Just because it gets colder, doesn't mean you have to abandon style. Swap sandals for platform boots. Crop tops, for coats. Cut offs for ripped jeans. You get the picture... ;)

With colder temps officially here it’s the perfect time to give your seasonal wardrobe a bit of a boost. Luckily, the fall/winter 2016 fashion scene has no shortage of cozy, chic, and completely of-the-moment pieces to add to your current collection. Whether you can’t get enough of a good feminine detail or never miss an opportunity to don an eye-catching ensemble, these trends are sure to become your favorite styles of the season.

Oversized Outerwear

It’s an undeniable truth that one cannot survive the fall and winter seasons without at least one piece of outerwear. Of course, warmth and versatility should be top priorities when choosing a seasonal coat, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice every shred of style. Instead of the standard, neutral-hued pea coat, try opting for something with a tad more pop by way of oversized outerwear. This article writes that there's much more to the coats that have sauntered down the catwalks. Oversized, slouchy, long and with huge sleeves (not to mention clad in bold prints, patterns, fabrics, and colours)—anything goes when it comes to outerwear as long as it’s big, bold, and beautiful.

Platform Boots

Unless you’ve been completely checked out of the fashion world for a little while now, you are likely fully aware of the '90s resurgence that is currently happening. Love it or hate it, styles that haven’t been in the spotlight for a few decades are once again trending, including the platform heel (as well as its close cousin, the flatform). This collection of shoes reflects the style with platforms seen everywhere—literally everywhere—and no shoe is safe from sandals to ankle boots. Though the heel may be high, the chunky design of the platform boot creates a stable base that makes walking easier than one would expect in any sort of heel. Feel like a rockstar goddess by pairing your pair with a flowy midi dress and cropped leather jacket, or go for a more laid-back vibe and wear them with cropped skinny jeans and a perfectly slouchy sweater.

Feline Prints

It’s finally acceptable to embrace your inner cat lady—at least, as far as fashion is concerned. This season, no canvas can escape the current fetish with everything feline. This post notes some of the biggest brands are doubling down on their (and our) cat obsessions and putting furry faces on blouses, coats, jewellry, bags, and keychains. With so many different ways to incorporate animal prints and embellishments, it’s safe to say this is one trend that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. For the more reserved cat lovers out there, choose a subtle accessory to finish your look. For those that admittedly feline-obsessed, opt for a midi length coat in a jungle cat print.
